Instagram Story Downloader

Save stories and highlights from public Instagram accounts to your phone or computer, as MP4 videos and JPG photos. No login, no app, and the account won't see your view.

How to save a story

  1. Open the account

Enter the username of a public account that posted a story in the last 24 hours.

  2. Play the story

Load the stories and tap the one you want. Highlights work the same way, whenever they were posted.

  3. Tap download

The download button in the player saves videos as MP4 and photos as JPG, in the quality Instagram serves.

Where the file ends up

iPhone and iPad

Safari saves downloads to the Files app, in the Downloads folder. Open the file there and use the share button to move a photo or video into your Photos library.

Android

Chrome saves to the Downloads folder. Most gallery apps pick up new files there automatically, or you can open them from the Files app.

Computer

Files go to your browser's usual download folder.

Good to know

  • Stories can only be saved while they're live, which means within 24 hours of posting. Highlights can be saved any time.
  • Interactive stickers such as polls, questions and links may be missing from the file, because Instagram draws them on top of the story inside the app.
  • Downloading doesn't add you to the story's viewer list, the same as watching.

Questions

Does the account get notified when I download a story?

No. Instagram has no download notification, and a download from this site doesn't touch the account's viewer list.

What quality are downloads?

The same quality Instagram serves for the story. Nothing is re-compressed on the way.

Can I download stories from a private account?

No. Private stories are only shown to approved followers, so there is nothing public to download.

Why did a video download without sound?

Some stories are posted without sound, and some have music that plays only inside the Instagram app. The file contains whatever audio Instagram serves with the video.

Can I download highlights too?

Yes. Open a highlight and use the same download button. Unlike stories, highlights can be saved at any time.

Can I save posts and reels?

Yes. Open any of the recent posts or reels on a profile page and the player shows the same download button.

Do I need an app?

No. Everything happens in the browser, on iPhone, Android and computers.

Is there a limit?

Loading a profile or its stories for the first time costs us a request to Instagram, so each visitor can make a limited number of those per day. Anything someone looked up in the last few minutes, or a profile loaded in the last day, opens without counting.
